Screen Sharing and Conference Calls Made Easy

Egads. Upon re-reading this post, it sounds like one big ad. I hate myself.

That screenshot above is real. And it’s not the first time I’ve been asked the question of what software to use to easily do a screen share.

I don’t remember how I came across Uberconference but I’ve been using it for a couple of years. Before then, I think I was using Skype when I had to run the show. If some company was in charge, it was usually GoToMeeting.

The two main reasons for using Uberconference for me are:

Tracking Time Spent On Your Phone with the Moment App

Have you ever been curious as to how much time you spend on your phone? Are you afraid to know? Do you think you have an addiction to your phone?

In the business world, there’s a common quote from Peter Drucker that goes like this:

If you can’t measure it, you can’t improve it.

I think it’s impossible to understand how much time you spend on your phone unless you make a conscious effort to track it. Luckily, there is an app called Moment that will show you how much time you spend on your phone on a daily basis.

Lions, Tigers, and Malware. Oh, my.

While two of those things usually aren’t a danger to an Apple computer, malware is an issue.

I’ve had malware on this computer. I have no idea how I got it and I honestly don’t remember which variant it was. I don’t think it was all that bad but I’m not sure as it was a few years ago. All I know is that it was cleaned.

That’s not meant to be alarmist. I would much rather be on an Apple computer than a Windows-based machine. But you would be silly to continue to be a denier that Apple computers are immune to the bad stuff. Just because it appears to happen less frequently doesn’t mean you shouldn’t protect yourself especially if it’s easy.

Make Your Life a Little Easier with Text Replacement

Wouldn’t it be nice if you could write your email address on your phone with just two characters?

I mean, how many times do you have to type out your full email address? Typically, you’re filling out a form, which also includes things like your address which can also be lengthy. These things also need to be correct 100% of the time.

I should do a poll but I’m guessing that less than 50% of the people I know have no idea this is a standard feature on Apple’s operating systems. Or, they do but have never thought of ways they could use it to make their lives a lot simpler.

Dictation on Apple Watch

I do a lot of walking. At least I try to. As my mind wanders, inevitably I have some thoughts I want to write down. Save the world type thoughts. Ok, not really. Just stuff I needed for myself.

I had heard some good things about an app called Just Press Record. The app made it simple to record a memo and then transcribe it. Not only that, the recordings could be found on your Mac as an audio file (but not the transcribed text).

After purchasing the app, I installed it on my Apple Watch Series 0 (AW0). I used it a few times and although I liked it, I didn’t love it. Then came my AW3.
